Robochef

magine coming home for school to find a robot cooking your dinner! Well, that's possible now in Japan.
The robot stirs the ingredients in a bowl, pours them into a pan and servers your food. It also asks you what sort of sauces and condiments you would like. But if you want to understand, you'll have to learn Japanese!

DIRECTIONS IN A BUILDING

C: Excuse me. Do you work here?
X: Yes. How can I help you?
C: Can you tell me the way to the café, please?
X: Yes, of course. It's on the next floor. Can you see those steps over there?
C: The steps next to the shop?
X: Yes. Go up the steps and turn left. Then walk through the Starr Auditorium and you'll see it.
C: OK. Thanks very much.
X: You're welcome.

GIVING ADVICE

X: Hey, Carla, what's the matter? You look worried. What's the problem?
C: Yes, it's my brother. I think he's stealing things. I found ten new films in his room.
X: Wow! That's serious! What are you going to do?
C: I don't know. What do you think I should do?
X: Well, if I were you, I'd speak to him.
C: I tried that, but he didn't listen.
X: Then you have to try again. Come on - I'll come with you.
C: Ok, Thanks Xuni

AN INFORMAL INTERVIEW

X- Hi. My name's Xavier Alsius. I've come about the job.
C- Oh, hi, Xavier. Pleased to meet you. I'm Carla Figueres. I'm the manager here. Take a seat.
X- Thanks
C- Right, let's see. Have you ever worked in a cinema before?
X- No, I haven't.
C- And why would you like to work with us?
X- Well, I think it's a good cinema, and the people here seem happy.
c- And you? What kind of person are you?
x- Well, I think I'm friendly and I've a lot of friends. I'm a hard working person.
c- Right. Let me tell you a bit about the job...

GIVING ADVICE

Dear Pau

My best friend isn't talking to me at the moment and I'm not sure what's the problem. I've also received one or two unfriendly messages recently. Unfortunately, I haven't got other friends and I feel very unhappy. What should you do?

Xuni

Dear Xuni

If I were you, I wouldn't be too worried about this. Are you sure these people are your friends?
Obviously, you should talk to them as quickly as possible. You must speak honestly to them and tell them that you are worried.
As for the texts, you must try no to think about them. Unfortunately, people are strange sometimes, and you have to live with it.

Pau
