EXPLAIN AND CLARIFY A SITUATION
Xuni: Not bad, thanks. Why do you ask?
Blanca: Because you told me that you were staying in on Saturday night, but I heard that you were at a party.
Xuni: Who told you that?
Blanca: Grace said that she'd seen you. How come you didn't tell me about it?
Xuni: Cause I was only there for an hour. My dad asked me to take my sister. I chatted to Paul for a while and then I left.
Blanca: Are you telling me the truth, Xuni?
Xuni: Honestly, it's true! If you don't belive me, you can ask Grace.
Blanca: OK, OK. I belive you. Sorry, Sergi.
Xuni: That's OK.
A happy ending

A. IS TECHNOLOGY TAKING OVER OUR LIVES?
I think I'm involved in this drug, because at any moment I'm stuck in one of these electronic gadgets. Every day I log in facebook and msn, like all my friends.
Of course all of these devices lead us to a world very inappropriate for us. The bad part is that you will have consequences. So my parents forbid me some days to connect to facebook.
In conclusion, it is clear to me that I'd have to reduce hours of facebook.

My name is Xavier Alsius and I’m 16 years old and I’m a student in Casa Nostra Porqueres. I’m interested in sports and the animals. Some of my friends are into sports too. I spend most my time with my friend David. The thing which I like best is playing in the football field.
I don’t think that the world is a bad place, but I think it would be better, but one thing that annoys me is when people are unfriendly with me.
As far as the future is concerned, it sometimes worried me the world is ending soon.

Hot cross buns
Hot cross buns are sweet, spiced buns made with raisins and have a cross on top. They are traditionally eaten at Easter and are said to bring good things for the future. If you share a hot cross with another person you will be friend for next year, but you must say this rhyme: "Half for you and half for me, between us two shall goodwill be".

Ups and downs
Blanca: Oh, I've just heard that my best friend's father has got a job in USA, and she's moving away
Xuni: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. It isn't the end of the world though
Blanca: I know, but I'm really going to miss her
Xuni: don't take it too badly- at least you can visit her on summer holidays. USA is really cool.
Blanca: That's true, I supose
Xuni: Look at it this way- if he's father hadn't got the job there maybe she will be disappointed with him...
Blanca: Yeah, maybe you're right
Xuni: Cheer up! Com on- let's go to a café or something
Blanca: OK. Thanks, Xuni. I feel a bit better now.

Blanca:Didn't you see the sign?
Xuni:No, I'm afraid not.
Blanca:Have you been here before to skateboard?
Xuni:No, I like out of town.
Blanca:Well, if I were you, I'd look for a different place.
Xuni:OK. Sorry about that. I didn't realize.

Sheerlock Holmes
SHERLOCK HOLMES
He is a fictional detective created by Scottish author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A brilliant London-based "consulting detective", Holmes is famous for his astute logical reasoning, his ability to take almost any disguise, and his forensic science skills to solve difficult cases.
THE FILM
Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes appeared for the first time in A Study in Scarlet in 1887, and he soon became the most famous literary detective of all time.
Here we see him at work in three stories: solving the problem of the hat and the goose in "The Blue Carbuncle"; finding the missing fiancé in "A Case of Identity"; and discovering the identity of the strange creature in "The Yellow Face".
SIR ARTHUR IGNATIUS CONAN DOYLE
(22 May 1859 - 7 July 1930), he was a Scottish physician and writer, most noted for his sotries about the detective Sherlock Holmes, wich are generally considered a major innovation in the field of crime fiction, and for the adventures of Professor Challenger. He was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, and non-ficiton.

Surfing is one of the oldest practiced sports on the planet. Surfing is also one of the few sports that creates its own culture.
The act of riding waves with a wooden board originated in Western Polynesia over three thousand years ago. The first surfers were fishermen.
Early historical records of surfing appear in the late 1700s, when Europeans and Polynesians made first contact in Tahiti. Only three types of trees were picked to make a board.
There were four basic boards in Hawaii:
- The paipo or kioe, a body board, from 2-to-4 feet long, usually used by children.
- The alaia (ah-LAI-ah) or omo (O-mo), a mid-sized board, about 8 feet or longer.
- The kiko`o, larger than the alaia, but not as big as the biggest boards; between 12 and 18 feet; good for bigger surf, but requiring a high level of skill to handle.
- The olo (O-lo), a very long surfboard reserved for royalty that could be as long as 18-to-24 feet in length.

Subject: Your visit
Hi, EsteL.
I'm just writing to check that everything's for your visit.
I think you'll like Cadaques. On Friday morning we're going shopping around the city. So we'll probably meet some of my friends in the afternoon and we can go to the beach. They are very pretty beaches.
On Sunday, we could go to visit the Dalí home and after we going to go fishing to the coast on the rocks. At night we'll go into a disco with my friends. We're going to meet you at the bus station tomorrow at 10:30, OK?
Bye,
Xavier.

Take that!
a king penguin was not about to be intimidated by this giant elephan seal blocking his path to the sea. Instead, he slapped it with his flipper. But when the seal gave a huge roar, the brave penguin had to retreat and take the long way to the water. The encounter took place on the South Atlantic island of south Georgia.
Giant skateboard

Skateboard are cool. Giant skateboards are really cool. Skatepark designer Joe Ciaglia has created the world's largest skateboard. The 1600-Kg Board measures 11 meters long, and 2,5 meters high.
"The board is about fun-it was fun to build, it is fun ride and it is fun to see everyone's raction to it," Ciaglia says.

Dialogues
Hello, there. Can I help you?
Yes, I'm staying in Somerset with a friend next week and we were wondering if there's anything to see around there. Have you got any information?
Yes, there are day trips to the Cheddar caves if you're interested. I'll get you a leaflet.
That sounds good. What time do the trips leave?
Oh, they're fairly regular - they go every day except Monday at nine and eleven.
OK. And how much is the trip? We've got student cards.
Let's see. Well, in that case it's 8 pounds per person. The full price is 12 pounds.
That's fine. We'll go on Thursday, then. Do we need to book it?
I'll book it for you if you like. Can I take your names?
CHANGE SOMETHING IN A SHOP:
Xuni: Hello. Are you OK there?
Gillem: Yes, hi. I was given these jeans as a present but they're too small. Is it OK if I change them?
Xuni: That should be OK. Have you got the receipt?
Gillem: Yes, here you are.
xunii: OK. Well actually, we've sold out of those jeans, I'm afraid. You can choose something else if you like.
Guillem: Oh, right. Can I try these things on?
xuni: Yes, sure. The changing rooms are over there.
Guillem: What do you think of this coat? it isn't too long, is it?
Xuni: No, I don't think so. it's really funky.
Guillem: OK. I'll take it then. Thanks.
DISCUSS A QUESTIONARIE:
Guillem: Hey, xuni. We're doing a questionnaire about identity. Do you want to have a look?
Xuni: Yeah, go on then. Ask me something.
Guillem: OK, I will ask you the interesting ones. Do you express yourself more through your hairstyle or your clothes?
Xuni: Er, through my clothes.
Guillem: Yes, me too! Right, do you usually know what music someone likes from the clothes they wear?
Xuni: Oh, that's a difficult one. Not always, no.
Guillem: No, me neither. OK. How about this one - do you prefer to hang out with a group of friends, or alone?
Xuni: I prefer a group.
Guillem: Oh, I don't. I prefer to relax on my own.
xuni: We're a bit different then.
guillem: It looks like it, yes.
